HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! So, thats that! In less than 2 hours it will be November. Which means, snow is on its way and the wedding season is officially wrapped up for another year (well, not until I catch up on all my outstanding blog posts – and outstanding they will be!!! – sorry, I will save the cheese for later).
Ahh – September still brings back such fond memories. Beautiful weather, golden sun and dry skies. This basically sums up the funkiest wedding of the season – Liz and Dave’s. When I originally booked this date with Mike (StreeterStevens Photography), I was sooo excited. I would be shooting at the Balzac’s Coffee Shop – a wedding! If you know this place at all, you know it is located in the heart of the distillery district, is the cutest, most quaint little building, and it smells so so SO amazing (like coffee – of coarse – fresh, brewed, coffee – mmmm). You can sit on the small patio, and the fresh aroma bring such pleasant thoughts amongst the coolest atmosphere downtown Toronto. PLEASE! Someone take me back!!!!
Liz and Dave were an adorable couple – quiet, but their love was so evident – don’t you just love that? Their wedding took place on a Friday, which meant – for them – that their ceremony was scheduled for 7:00pm. Well, if we waited until after the ceremony to do photos, it would have been difficult due to the lack of sunlight! So, Liz and Dave decided to do a ‘first look’ (which, might I add, is becoming more and more popular)!
We hid Liz in one of the nooks of the Distillery District and waited for the call from Dave saying that he had arrived. His best man went out, and lead him backwards to wear Liz was patiently waiting to see her Groom for the first time. Once they had surprised each other, complimented one another, and shared a few giggles and kisses – we took them around the Distillery District for some photos.
Their ceremony was pleasant, and cozy. All their closest family, and friends, gathered in the small confines of the Balzac’s main floor to witness their love, and listen to their vows. And, once the ceremony was all over, they all shared appetizer snacks, over drinks, throughout the evening.
I have to say this was a little bit of a ‘different’ wedding compared to what I normally witness. Being included in a wedding day is so remarkable, and it’s unfathomable how much you can learn of a couple just by the choices they make for their special day! Liz and Dave’s wedding was beautiful, and I was so happy to be apart of it.
Please enjoy viewing some of my favourites from their wedding.
