When I got asked to photograph another photographers wedding, I was swayed with all kinds of emotion. The bouts of excitement, and flattery, thankfully outweighed the nerves. Elise and I met back when we were colleagues at Edge Imaging – although we worked in different regions, our randomly unplanned and simultaneous visits at the office together didn’t stop us from building a friendship that I will always cherish. Elise, like me, now owns her own photography studio, but she could totally be a creative director or event planner to boot! Honestly, the way she explained her visions for her wedding day had me swooning for days (literally).
The ladies spent their morning at Elise’s studio, Elise’s Photography, situated in the heart of Delhi, Ontario. It was pleasantly tame, with the random sound of girl talk and laughter. While a few bridesmaids were getting their hair and makeup done, Elise’s sister spent time writing her, later, hilarious – but absolutely genuine and sisterly – speech and her niece (also flower girl) flapped her bare feet across the hardwood while she pretended to have her very own photography studio. Absolutely adorable, and you’ll see by all the pictures that I simply adored this kid!
When hair and makeup was complete, we all headed to Elise’s parents farm house in La Salette, Ontario. Over a few bites of carbs (hello!), the ladies sorted out all the details to ensure they would arrive at the La Salette Historic Church & Community Hall on time. Elise’s bridesmaids had all picked out their very own golden/champagne sequin dresses to pair beautifully with their gorgeous peach bouquets (INSIDER TIP: if you ever want to see me looking like a heart eyed emoji – just say the word “gold”). The ceremony, without a doubt, was absolutely gorgeous. And, although Miss Georgia stole the show just that morning – and aside from Penny flaunting herself through the crowd – Elise happened to simply take everyones breath away! SIDE NOTE: I should clarify that Penny is Elise & Kurt’s golden retriever, who’s neck was adorned with a gorgeous floral crown.
The reception, which was held at Woodside Greens Golf Club was absolutely stunning. Honestly, this venue is a gem! While we waited for the bridal party to arrive, we settled ourselves into photographing all the gorgeous details in the reception area (Elise’s words in action and nothing disappointed). The tablescapes were like something out of a magazine and the colour scheme was beyond words. Elise seriously did not forget a single detail! She even remembered to host a colourful basket of warm cozy blankets for late night chills and would keep all the kids entertained with a little colouring set placed perfectly at their designated seat.
The day was going off without a hitch. Everything was falling into place perfectly, even the sun cooperated and treated us to a warm evening glow (lets be honest, every photographers dream). The bridal party was now a little looser, courtesy of the limo ride to the venue, which made photo time all the more fun! We had golf cart races and all kidded that we should play bumper cars, although we never actually did – with the acception of maybe one time, which was totally accidental!
The beautiful people and the stunning details made this wedding a favourite of 2015 (perhaps of all time)! All-in-all, I feel so humbly honoured to have been given the opportunity to photograph the marriage and wedding day of my friends, Elise and Kurt.
